Dan Parsons is a committed airport safety professional working as a Senior Standards Officer (Aerodromes & Heliports) with Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority. He began his aviation career with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Australia before specializing in airport safety and joining the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority. Dan also worked with a mining company running their airports in central Queensland and in Queenstown, New Zealand, and the Middle East before returning to CASA in 2021. Despite his daily chaos, Dan enjoys writing about airport safety and risk management, and he launched a website to share his thoughts and experiences. He also launched New Airport Insider in 2013 to write about wildlife hazard risk management, the Australian airport industry, and airport people power. Dan writes about airport operational matters on his website and is interested in safety, customer service, internet services, ground transport, and online training. Dan always likes to connect with like-minded airport professionals, and readers can post comments, email him, follow him on Twitter, or connect with him on LinkedIn.

Dr. Chunyan Yu is a professor of Air Transport Management. Her expertise is in the economics of transportation and logistics industries; performance measurement and benchmarking of transportation and supply chain infrastructure; regulatory policy analysis; demand analysis and forecasting; measurement and analysis of productivity and efficiency; applied statistics and econometrics. She has more than twenty-five years of experience in teaching, research, and consulting in these areas in Canada, the US, Asia, and Europe.
She has published numerous books and academic articles in international journals such as: the Journal of Transport Economics and Policy, Transportation Research B, Journal of Air Transport Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Urban Economics, Transport Policy, and European Journal of Operational Research, etc. She has co-authored a number of research reports for government agencies and commissions in Canada, Asia, and Europe.
Yu is the research director for the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS)’s Global Airports Performance Benchmarking Task Force. The ATRS global airport benchmarking project measures and compares the performance of several important aspects of airport operation, covering over 200 airports in North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, and publishes an annual report (www.atrsworld.org).
Husband, father, and walker of two dogs, Saul D. Robinson is an American immigrant born in the United Kingdom and a long-term resident of St. Louis. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in physics from Imperial College, London, a Master’s in mechanical engineering from Auburn, a Ph.D. in Aviation from Saint Louis University, and is an Associate of the Royal College of Science. After leaving university (the first time), he pursued a career in aviation. As a result, he holds U.S. and European Air Transport Pilot certificates, and Flight & Ground Instructor certificates, and has held an Air Agency Certificate as a Chief Instructor.
In his aviation career, he has flown corporate aircraft (B200) and taught at Embry-Riddle and at Saint Louis University. After many years as a professor at SLU, an invitation led him to leave academia and build his company. At Fraign Analytics, he is able to pursue his research interests full-time. At Fraign, Dr. Robinson develops cloud-based cooperative artificial intelligence & machine learning applications for customer service providers. In the past two years, he has built solutions for multilingual natural language processing classification tasks, optical character recognition pipelines, anomaly detection, chatbots, database cloud streaming, and customer behavior prediction tools.
Whilst in academia, he authored multiple journal articles covering NLP, data visualization, temporal analysis, and multi-label problems. Melding his research and professional experience, he currently has a number of patents pending related to cooperative artificial intelligence systems. These patents cover systems development & integration, educational programming, and real-time augmentation systems. He is in the early stages of pursuing research funding for these projects.
His research interests include cooperative AI aviation systems integration, training, social networks, graphs, and production processes.
